Attached is an information sheet and a registration form to make reservations for this year’s school performances.

Intercity Ballet Theatre is a nonprofit community dance company that has presented The Nutcracker to thousands of area school children at minimal or no cost. This is our 27th year and we are planning new and exciting additions to this year’s production.

It is the mission of Inter City to promote the Arts to the young people of our community with special performances during school hours. Every year Inter City is proud to bring to Kingsport professional principle dancers from many metropolitan dance companies such as, Boston, Dallas, Atlanta and Los Angles. In addition, over 100 area students from multiple schools will perform to the delight of their fellow classmates.

The Nutcracker is an excellent learning opportunity for students of all ages. Each year we have groups from all over East Tennessee and Virginia. Some travel over an hour to attend. Students range in age from preschool to high school and college. There are multiple learning opportunities and benefits for the students of all ages. For example, students will experience a(n):

• -Introduction to classical music and ballet in an highly entertaining format suitable for all ages
  
• -Presentation of several international styles of dance
  
• -Correlation of music, dance and drama to a time honored literary work
  
• -Presentation of period costumes and sets dating back to the 1800s
  
• -Weaving of special lights, props and effects with live performances to create a magical stage
  
• -Exposure to a classical holiday tale that has maintained it’s popularity throughout the ages
