For over 30 years, Intercity has offered special week day performances of our productions for area school children. The scope and popularity of these performances has grown at a phenomenal rate over the past few years.

Our yearly production of The Nutcracker has been performed to filled audiences. This past year we were pleased to include many area senior citizen and adult day care groups. These performances generally sell out very quickly and frequently we have a waiting list.

For the last 5 years, we have been able to offer scholarship tickets to many area physically and/or financially challenged children and adults. Through the generosity of local businesses and patrons, we have been able to offer these performances at a very low cost. Well over 45% of those who attend the day performances do so at no charge through our scholarship program.

We have groups attending our performances from all over Eastern Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. We have had children of all ages from 2 to 92! Each year we have city and county elementary, middle and high schools represented. In addition, we welcome college groups, day cares and nursery schools, private schools, senior citizen groups and home-schoolers. We have extended our outreach to include residential homes for our youth. Last year alone, information was sent to over 300 schools and organizations.

Along with our company theater productions, Intercity offers an educational outreach program to the community. In the past we have provided educational programs to area schools on the history and art of dance, as well as exhibitions. Our company has also participated in area artistic and religious celebrations.
